Old Fashioned

Steps

  1. Add the sugar and bitters to a whisky glass. Muddle together with the back of a bartender spoon, or wooden spoon handle. Sometimes, a dash of water can help dissolve the sugar.

  2. Fill the glass with ice and tip in the whisky.

  3. Stir in a clockwise motion for around 3-4 minutes until perfectly diluted. A good clue for when you have stirred enough is to hold the top of the glass in one hand whilst stirring with the other. When the brim of the glass feels cold to the touch and he sugar has dissolved, you are ready.

  4. Take your piece of orange peel, turn inside out and pinch it over the glass to release the oils in a mist. Wipe the rim of the glass with the orange peel then pop it into the whisky.

  5. Slowly sip, relax and enjoy!
